San Sebastian del Oeste is a colonial Spanish
town, dating back to 1605, when over 4,000 people called it home.
The town was a mining center for gold and silver back then - today,
it's a small town of 600, tucked away in the Sierra Madre, and is
a retreat, where city folk get away from it all.
Your tour will visit this quaint little
community, and offer you a real feeling of Mexican culture and
history. The tour starts with a visit to the small village
of La Estancia, where you'll have some great views and a chance
to take photos. Here your tour guide will tell you about
the area.
The tour launches upward at this point, driving
4,500 feet high into the Sierra Madre to the cozy pueblo of San
Sebastian, existing today as it was over 400 years ago.
Take a walking tour of the small town, learning about its
history and people, visit a coffee factory, and of course the famous San
Sebastian Church. You'll enjoy a real Mexican lunch at
a local restaurant, then we'll visit a local tequila factory,
where you can taste samples of this most famous of Mexican
liquors, learn the "right way" to drink them, and learn how the
liquor is made before making the journey back to Nuevo Vallarta.
